A Soft Financial Reboot for the New Year

A Soft Financial Reboot for the New Year

You don’t need a big New Year’s resolution.
You don’t need a brand-new budget, a color-coded spreadsheet, or a massive transformation.
You need something much smaller—and much softer.
You need a reset.

What a Reset Isn’t

It’s not harsh.
It’s not punishing.
It’s not a “make up for lost time” sprint.

It’s not throwing out the past or shaming yourself into better behavior.

It’s not built on guilt.
And it’s not built overnight.

What a Reset Is

A financial reset is a quiet moment of reckoning.

Not the kind that breaks you down.
The kind that brings you back to yourself.

It’s a breath between the past and the future.
It’s a choice to begin again—not because you’ve failed, but because you’re growing.

Your Soft Reset Might Look Like

  • Looking back at your spending and noticing the moments that aligned with your values—and the ones that didn’t.

  • Opening your budget app or statements with curiosity, not criticism.

  • Picking one small habit to tend to—just one.

  • Saying no to something that drains you.

  • Saying yes to something that supports you.

You Don’t Have to Do It All

You just have to begin.

Even a soft beginning will take you somewhere different.
Especially when it’s rooted in emotional honesty.
Especially when it comes from your why.

Want Help Starting?

Money From The HEART is the gentle financial reset you’ve been waiting for.

It’s not about rules.
It’s about relationship.

In this self-paced mini-course, you’ll get to know your Money Self, explore your emotional patterns with money, and begin to shift the habits that shape your bottom line.

No shame. No overwhelm.
Just a clear, kind place to begin again.

Your 2026 CEO Kickstart: Leading with Clarity, Courage, and Calm

Your 2026 CEO Kickstart: Leading with Clarity, Courage, and Calm

The last week of the year always feels like a pause between heartbeats.
The noise quiets, the pace slows, and we can finally exhale.

It’s a sacred moment—the space between what’s been and what’s next.

Before you start mapping out your goals, updating systems, or writing your “new year, new plan” list, take this moment to look around.
You’re still here.
You’ve built something meaningful, one session, one choice, one brave decision at a time.

1. Lead With Clarity

Clarity is calm.

It’s knowing what matters most and letting that guide your next steps.

Ask yourself:

  • What do I want to protect in my business this year?

  • What do I want to expand?

  • What am I ready to release?

You don’t need a complex plan to lead with clarity.
You just need to know your direction and take one intentional step at a time.

2. Lead With Courage

Courage doesn’t mean you aren’t afraid.
It means you’re willing to move anyway.

2025 has been full of uncertainty—for therapists, for our clients, for the world around us.
But that uncertainty has also revealed our resilience.

You’ve made hard choices, adapted to change, and shown up with heart.
That’s the quiet kind of courage that builds lasting success.

3. Lead With Calm

You don’t have to begin the new year at full speed.
In fact, the best leaders know how to pace themselves.

Calm leadership isn’t passive—it’s powerful.
It’s grounded decision-making.
It’s the confidence that you can meet whatever comes next, because you’ve built the skills and systems to hold it.

And when you lead from calm, everyone around you feels safer—your clients, your colleagues, your community.

A Message of Gratitude

As we close the year, I want to say thank you.

Thank you for being here—for reading, reflecting, learning, and growing together.
Thank you for doing the hard, human work of healing and leading in times that aren’t always easy.
Thank you for being part of this community that believes we can build practices—and lives—that are both sustainable and deeply meaningful.

You are the reason Coffee With Karen exists.
And in 2026, I can’t wait to keep helping you grow—one clear, courageous, calm step at a time.

Even in the Dark, There Is Light

Even in the Dark, There Is Light

This time of year can bring mixed feelings.
We look back and see the mess and the magic, the heartbreak and the small mercies.
It’s rarely all one thing.

For many, 2025 was not easy.
There were changes we didn’t choose.
Losses we couldn’t have imagined.
A world that often felt too loud, too fast, too much.

And yet—
You’re still here.
Still breathing.
Still showing up for your life, even in the dark.

That’s what light does.
It never fully disappears—it finds its way through the cracks.

What Went Right

The mind tends to focus on what went wrong.
It’s how we try to protect ourselves from future pain.

But healing asks us to widen the lens.
To also notice what went right.

Maybe you started therapy.
Maybe you spoke a truth that had been stuck in your throat.
Maybe you fought through some hard stuff.
Maybe you won some not-so-small private victories only you know about.
Maybe you laughed so hard you forgot, for a moment, what you were worried about.
Maybe you found a quiet confidence growing inside you—a small flame that wouldn’t go out.

Those moments matter.
They are proof of your aliveness.
Proof that you kept choosing to move toward the light.

Finding the Light That Remains

The return of light after the solstice reminds us that every dark season turns, eventually, toward dawn.
So does every heart.

Even if you can’t yet see what’s next, your body knows how to move toward warmth and connection again.
Trust that.

You don’t have to rush into resolutions or self-improvement.
Just pause.
Look around your life for the smallest flickers of joy, and let them be enough for now.

As we approach the new year, we get to live again.
We get to strive again.
We get to keep moving toward new growth, new healing, new joy, and more becoming our most imperfect, best self.

Looking Ahead

Next week, we’ll introduce the new theme for The Pause for 2026—
and I’m excited about this one.

Be sure to look for The Pause in your inbox next Thursday.

Let’s go.

A Gentle Practice: Writing a Blessing for Yourself

Find a quiet moment between now and the new year.
Take a few breaths and think of yourself as you’ve been this year—tired, trying, learning, becoming.

Then write yourself a short note of appreciation or blessing for the year ahead.
Something like:

“I am proud of the way I kept going.”
“I give myself permission to rest, to grow, and to receive light.”
“May the coming year bring more softness, more connection, more peace.”

Tuck it somewhere you’ll find it later—your wallet, a book, your journal.
Let it remind you: The light never left.
It lives in you.

If you’re ready to bring that light forward into the new year and begin your healing journey with care, I’d love to walk with you.

A Year in Your Wallet: Reflecting on Your Financial Life in 2025

A Year in Your Wallet: Reflecting on Your Financial Life in 2025

You made it to December.
Maybe you met your goals.
Maybe you didn’t.
Maybe you spent more than you wanted.
Maybe you spent exactly what you needed.
Maybe it was a mix of all of the above.

Whatever this year held, it’s worth pausing to ask:
What did I learn about myself and money in 2025?

This Isn’t About Judging the Numbers

Yes, it’s helpful to look at your spending and saving.

But more than that, look at your stories.
Look at your patterns.
Look at your growth.

Did you learn to say no more?
Did you ask for help?
Did you begin tracking your spending—even if it was inconsistent?
Did you notice where your money feelings get in the way?

These are wins.
These are the start of real change.

Let the Past Teach You—Not Define You

Too often, we treat financial reflection like a courtroom.

We drag in our bank statements like evidence.
We deliver the verdict.
And the sentence?
Guilt. Shame. Resentment. Pressure.

But you’re not on trial.
You’re building a life.

The purpose of reflection isn’t to punish.
It’s to understand.

When you look back with curiosity instead of judgment,
you open the door to healing.

Ask Yourself

  • What worked for me financially this year?

  • What felt hard—and why?

  • What beliefs about money did I notice in myself?

  • What did I try that helped me feel more in control, grounded, or calm?

  • What would I like to carry forward into 2026?

  • What am I ready to leave behind?

These questions don’t require perfect answers.
They just require honesty—and a little courage.

You Don’t Need a Spreadsheet to Reflect

You need space.
You need softness.
You need a few quiet minutes where you remember that you’re a human—not a calculator.

Money From The HEART

If you’re ready to keep learning and healing, Money From The HEART is here to help.

This self-paced mini-course helps you explore the emotional roots of your money habits—so you can build a relationship with money that aligns with who you’re becoming.

Before you set another financial goal, take a moment to understand the story behind the numbers.
The best plans begin with clarity.
Let’s start there.

Your Year in Review: Celebrate What You Built

Your Year in Review: Celebrate What You Built

Before You Turn the Page on 2025

Stop for a moment.
Take a breath.
Look around.

You made it through another year of running a practice in uncertain times—serving others, holding space, learning, growing, and finding your footing in the middle of it all.
That deserves acknowledgment.

You’ve done hard things this year.
Quiet, unseen, unglamorous things.
The kind of work that doesn’t get posted about, but keeps lives steady—including your own.

1. Honor the Ground You’ve Covered

Think back to January.
Who were you then, and who are you now?

Maybe your systems are smoother.
Maybe your boundaries are firmer.
Maybe you just kept showing up even when it was hard.

Progress isn’t always loud—it’s often slow, steady, and sacred.
It’s what happens in the space between intention and action.

Even if this year didn’t unfold the way you hoped, there are wins worth noticing.
Moments of courage.
Flashes of insight.
Small victories that point toward something solid taking shape.

2. Name the Lessons

Reflection isn’t just nostalgia—it’s information.

Ask yourself:

  • What did this year teach me about running a business?

  • What did I learn about my energy, my limits, and my leadership?

  • What patterns do I want to release before the new year?

You don’t have to analyze it all.
Just notice.
Your wisdom is already growing beneath the surface.

3. Remember the People You Helped

It’s easy to forget the quiet impact of your work.

Think about your clients—those moments when you saw the light return to someone’s eyes, or watched them breathe easier.
Think about colleagues you encouraged, or a peer you mentored.
Think about yourself, too—the compassion, the persistence, the heart you’ve poured into this profession.

You’ve built more than a business.
You’ve built belonging.

4. Let Gratitude Close the Year

Before you start planning, let gratitude do the work of softening the edges.
Gratitude shifts the nervous system out of scarcity and into possibility.
It says, “I have already built something beautiful, and I can build more.”

You don’t need a perfect year to be proud.
You just need to recognize the strength it took to get here.

Inside Coffee With Karen

Inside Coffee With Karen, we don’t just talk about strategy—we talk about the why that fuels it.
Because business growth without self-recognition is just another grind.

Let’s build the next chapter on a foundation of reflection, gratitude, and gentle confidence.
You’ve earned your pause.
Now let’s get ready to grow from it.
