Available Positions

Clinician: Eating Disorder Specialist

This part-time position is for a motivated and talented professional licensed in Maryland at the independent level (LCSW-C/LCPC/LCMFT) who is eager to bring their knowledge and experience to a progressive and collaborative private practice setting.

Extraordinary Graduate Licensed Professionals will be considered.

Avalon approaches a spectrum of eating and nourishment presentations with body image concerns from a non-pathologizing, attachment perspective with a focus on somatic integration. Healing focuses on embodiment and harm reduction over symptom abatement. We train with Embodied Recovery for developmental movements in the treatment of eating disorders.

Eating Disorder Specialists may have at least two years of knowledge and experience supporting the mental health needs of diverse clients presenting with eating disorders, disordered eating, and other feeding and body image mental health needs. Eating Disorder specialists practice from a developmental/attachment perspective and practice through an intersectional lens when serving diverse clients. Avalon Psychotherapy Associates practices from an Intuitive Eating/Health At Every Size perspective.

The successful candidate demonstrates humility, eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills, including positive contribution to our practice culture. Lived experience in common with our client base is welcome.

Duties:

  • Available to maintain 8-10 sessions per week
  • Additional training beyond CBT, such as EMDR, Trauma Modalities, DBT, Gottman, Emotion Focused Therapy, and Experiential Therapies
  • Committed to social justice and anti-racism and anti-oppression

Clinician: Perinatal Specialist

This part-time position is for a motivated and talented professional licensed in Maryland at the independent level (LCSW-C/LCPC/LCMFT) who is eager to bring their knowledge and experience to a progressive and collaborative private practice setting.

Extraordinary Graduate Licensed Professionals will be considered.

Perinatal Specialists have at least two years knowledge and experience supporting the mental health needs of perinatal clients. Perinatal specialists work from an attachment perspective, applying a trauma lens and interventions in the therapy relationship.

The successful candidate demonstrates humility, eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and strong interpersonal skills, including positive contribution to our practice culture. Lived experience in common with our client base is welcome.

How to Apply

  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, or Marriage and Family Therapy
  • Active, unrestricted license in the State of Maryland (LCSW-C, LCPC, LCMFT, PsyD, PhD)
  • Extraordinary Graduate Licensed Professionals will be considered
  • Available to maintain 25 sessions per week with 30 scheduled
  • Additional training beyond CBT, such as EMDR, Trauma Modalities, DBT, and Experiential Therapies

For consideration, applicants must

Applicants who complete the requirements and match our needs will participate in a phone screening followed by an interview with the practice Owner and at least one other member of the Avalon team.

*During COVID-19, all interviews are conducted via video chat.
