Eating & Body Image

Recovery

“and i said to my body. softly. ‘i want to be your friend.’

it took a long breath. and replied

‘i have been waiting my whole life for this.”

― Nayyirah Waheed

We recognize that Eating Disorders and disordered eating show up in many ways that are “outside the box.”

Not everyone who has an Eating Disorder is in a smaller body.

Not everyone who has an Eating Disorder is female-identified, or white, or affluent.

Not everyone who suffers with food and weight meet the criteria for a clinical Eating Disorder.

We are here to help all who want to return to a healthy, connected relationship with food, body, and mind.

All ED services provided online (even after COVID).

“Un-Intensive” ED Program below!

Online “Unintensive” ED Treatment Program

At Avalon, we see our relationship with food and weight as an expression of deeper need for connection and belonging.

Our relationship with food and weight has become an attempt to cope with a variety of pressures and unmet needs.

We are here to help you safely and gently connect in healthy ways with yourself, body, mind, and heart.

We see recovering through a lens of Intuitive Eating and Health At Every Size.

We recognize that all Eating Disorders do not look the same.

We look beyond the labels of Anorexia, Bulimia, and Binge Eating Disorder.

We understand that not everyone who suffers is in a smaller body and that gender identity, culture, and medical conditions affect how people experience food, body shape/size, and weight.

Our treatment program is appropriate for people who are:

  • ready to step down from an intensive day program
  • who have been recovering for some time and are ready for some extra support
  • or those who may not meet the criteria for a higher level of care and seek a slightly higher level of support.

An Eating Disorder is NOT your fault.
